JumpStart2Wealth Book, CD and Inside Layout

Design Task From Client

Angel Consulting developed a new book for businesses to use to build their credit when first starting out. They needed a cover that would speak instantly about the insides and the value it would have for a business, since this would be sold both as a hard copy book and as an e-book. They also wanted the inside layouts created. They had copy already written and somewhat formatted in a Microsoft Word document. The inside content would need to be created more professionally since it would also be getting printed.

Design Solution Created

Since this was being geared to more of a business market than a consumer market, the images and layout would need to be a little more "potent" and upfront/catchy. Businesses are inundated with materials daily that want them to buy, sell or make money, and almost all of them are able to be picked out by just looking at the front of the piece. Most pieces will have rather amateur design and little thought that in creation of the piece. This is why this cover was designed to be more than that, and speak in images instead of words with the $100.00 bills and credit cards. They are images of something every business owner thinks about on a daily basis and they will help to catch the eye of that new business owner prompting them to read on to see what it is.

Once the images and cover layout were nailed down and approved by Angel Consulting, the next task was to make the inside copy into a quick reading no frills information piece. If the potential client is reading the copy, they have already bought the book and now just want the information that is going to help them succeed. No fluffy images and pretty designs to get in the way. Everything was done in the layout to make it as organized and easy to skip to chapters and subtopics as quickly as possible. The pages were completed and approved after a number of modifications to copy.

Once the entire project was completed, it was decided to also use this information for promotional purposes for other business items. The creation of the cd cover was born to look and feel like the book.

Design Conclusion

This project took approximately two months to complete from the beginning of the book, to layout of the insides and creation of the cd and promotional graphics. The client is currently using this in their business successfully. With the way the book was created, they are now able to make inside layout updates on their own as they are needed, saving them money for the next project at hand.
